Cromwell Island is located about an hour outside of Glacier National Park, 35± minutes to Kalispell, MT, and 50± minutes to Glacier Park International Airport. Situated on Flathead Lake, Cromwell is the largest freshwater island under single ownership West of the Mississippi... and it is available for sale at $72,000,000.

As you can see in the video, we had to take a 1961 custom-built barge which is included in the sale and has a length overall of 60 feet, across the 650ft channel to Cromwell Island. We pulled into the second of two docks, on the West side of the island. Spaced and submerged across the channel are five agitators (hardwired with 220 volts from shore), which allow for an ice-free passage throughout winter. We then drove off of the barge and over to the main dock on the East side of the island. With five slips varying in size, the largest slip on the primary dock is believed to be capable of handling a yacht up to 70 feet!

As we drove further into the island, we came upon the Guest Villa. The 4,700± SF, 2 bed, 3 bath villa comes with a security office, a 2 car attached garage, storage rooms, and a fully functional wood shop. Early in the morning, just outside the Guest Villa, we got to see the herd of mule deer that live on the island come out to graze nearby!

Just up the road from the Guest Villa sits the stunning 45,000± SF main Villa, which was originally designed to have 3 beds and 9 baths. A 16th-century French-inspired architectural masterpiece, The Villa was built with the highest quality materials, including: "Montana Travertine", terracotta roof tiles from Italian manufacturer Ludowici, finishes in Swietenia Mahogany, and more.

While the interior is yet unfinished, the utilities and infrastructure for this home are all in place. It is virtually a blank slate for its buyer! Three-phase electrical service to the island is provided via a submerged cable, and is sized to handle everything previously contemplated to be built by the current owner, with plenty of headroom if other structures are desired. All utilities are housed remotely between The Villa and The Guest Villa so as to minimize any noise interference with the quiet enjoyment of The Villa. There are redundant boilers and pumps built to serve the radiant floor heat that is installed throughout. And with three 8,000 gallon diesel fuel tanks, this property's 750 kW Caterpillar backup generator is capable of generating off-grid power for 8-12 weeks.
