We wanted to make sure that we got your questions answered, so we interviewed Steve Roberson, the founder of Land id® (formerly MapRight), and here's what he had to say:

Why is MapRight changing their name to Land id®?

The change reflects our rebranding efforts and evolution towards focusing on the concept of land identity. Every piece of land has a unique identity, whether it's the acreage, ownership, contours, soils, or water access, and Land id® will help users unlock the full potential of their properties. Our goal with Land id® is to provide unprecedented levels of parcel information to help users better understand and visualize their properties. Although our name is changing, our commitment to providing high-quality services and features will remain the same."

Did MapRight get acquired?

No, MapRight was not acquired. We are changing our brand to Land id® to better focus on the concept of land identity and to provide more comprehensive parcel information and property mapping solutions to our users. The name change reflects our commitment to evolving and improving our services, but it does not indicate any acquisition or change in ownership."

Is Steve still involved?

Absolutely! I am still leading the charge and helping to enable Land id® customers with real estate mapping tools that are unsurpassed in the industry."

What is in it for me? How do I benefit?

Our goal with Land id® is to provide you with the same great services and capabilities, but with easier access. Most add-ons are now included in subscriptions, making it simpler to purchase. Additionally, the new subscription plans available are much simpler to understand and purchase. In many cases, the end costs will be less expensive than previous subscription costs for Land id® users. Please note: Parcel and soil reports will continue to be ad-hoc individual purchases."

What else is changing?

We are continually investing in new features, a performant website and mobile apps, and more data sets. Stay tuned for updates on our roadmap."

Are you radically changing your strategy, what MapRight does, or the current capabilities?

No, Land id® is still hyper-focused on creating the tools that real estate professionals depend on to perform their duties. If anything, our strategy is being strengthened by the move to Land id® with a roadmap of additional land identity tools to enhance what is available to our customers today."

Will the map still work like it does today?

Yes, the capabilities within Land id® will work today the same as they have in the past."

What are the details of the plans and what is included in these plans?

The new subscription plans available are much simpler to understand and purchase. In many cases, the end costs will be less expensive than previous subscription costs for Land id® users. We are now including add-ons within the subscription costs to better enable customers."

The area a home is located in determines a great deal for the people living there: where their kids can go to school, how long their commute is, what they do for entertainment… It’s no wonder that a 600 sq/ft. studio apartment in SoHo, New York can cost more than a 6-bedroom house in rural Indiana.
